How to wear navy - Summers
Navy is often considered a neutral, fairly universal colour, but there are several different types of navy, and each of those has a palette which pairs most well with it.
Summer's navy is slightly softened and greyed, like so much of the Summer palette. Usually known as 'french navy', Summer's navy is like true Winter navy softened by a hot weather heat haze, or seen through barbecue smoke.
Along with grey, navy is a great neutral for summers and generally easy to find in the softened Summer version. Summer's colours generally work well in a harmonious, blended fashion, meaning your navy works brilliantly with the mid tone pinks and blues and burgundy, but can also create a more formal look when paired with higher contrast soft white or pastel pink.
WORK: Along with dark grey and burgundy, navy can be a great formal neutral for Summers, offering the opportunity for suit dressing when paired with soft white, or with bolder colours when a less 'suited and booted' look is required.
REST: Layered tonal shades work perfectly for summer's smoky, sultry colouring, and casual wear is the perfect opportunity to exploit this.
PLAY: A great opportunity to contrast some of Summer's brighter shades for a less serious look.
