How to wear navy - Autumns

Navy is often considered a neutral, fairly universal colour, but there are several different types of navy, and each of those has a palette which pairs most well with it.

Autumn's best navy, alone among the seasons, isn't really navy at all. Rather, it is a dark teal shade that tones in beautifully with Autumn's rich reds, browns and mustards. However, for more formal purposes, it can be tricky to get hold of that particular shade in suiting and workwear, and a true navy (paired with Autumn shades to warm it up) tends to be the next best alternative for a more formal look.

WORK: Keep an eye out for marine navy wherever possible, but if you are forced to go for a true navy, make sure you keep it warm with cream and warm jewellery. Opt for a warm toned bag or scarf to ensure the look is as 'right' for you as possible.

REST: Your rich marine navy harmonises with so many colours in your palette, but adding a splash of one of the really warm tones such as tan, mustard or moss green can really keep things tied firmly to your warm autumn skin tone.

PLAY: Keep it elegant and timeless by pairing marine navy with antique gold shades, or add a bit of edge by pairing with an unexpected splash of colour, such as these shoe boots.
