Ratings & reviews
Write a reviewI was really looking forward to receiving these and wanted to love them. They were 98% fabulous - BUT they seemed to go into very noticeable creases in the lower stomach/groin area. This was probably more noticeable because of the colour (a lovely grey shade) as I'm used to wearing darker colours on my bottom half. I am pear-shaped and otherwise these were fabulous. The problem is probably due to my shape (bit of a tum) so other pear-shapes may find these to fit brilliantly. No gapping at the waist which was welcome. Sad to return them, but given the price I just could not convince myself to keep them. I usually wear size 14 on my bottom half and Medium in Kettlewell, but I sized up to L and these were akin to a size 14 I would say. Length was good for my height. Hope this helps others.
To my surprise the LL were a little loose on me - the L was a better fit. I am an awkward shape where trousers are concerned in that to get the hip measurement right the waist is usually very loose causing surplus fabric around the waist. On the L size everything fitted perfectly due to the stretch in the fabric. I am 34" waist 41.5" hips for reference. However I have returned both pairs sadly as they were too long and even after I turned the bottoms up the fabric didn't hang smoothly but in folds. Whether this would sort itself out in time I didn't feel I wanted to risk for the price.
Definitely designed with an hourglass figure in mind so a perfect fit for me. Although they are a bit pricey, it's very difficult to find trousers that fit perfectly and are the right colour so worth the money. Initially I wasn't sure about the colour. I do like light colours but as we're going into winter I'm more inclined to go for darker tones. I'm glad I ordered them though as light birch is really nice and although light, not too light. In general I do find the colours for Spring for skirts and trousers limited. Monaco blue is a beautiful colour but not as versatile as a clear light navy blue or a tru red. Similar issue with the skirts. Champagne (not sure how that would look) or purple are not real neutrals which is a shame as I would otherwise have ordered the pencil skirts.
Wow thank you Kettlewell, at last a pair of trousers that fit me. I am usually a M or L in Kettlewell, 5'2" size 14 curvy. I had given up on zipped trousers and had started wearing pull ups as with a curvy tummy zips and buttons don't work for me. Ordered M and L after reading other reviews and the M is perfect. The length also is brilliant when I am wearing heeled boots. I have purchased the Light Birch and cannot afford anymore before Christmas but will be purchasing the other autumn colours if still available in New Year.
The colour is perfect, so pleased they still had this in my size, and fits like a glove. A bit overpriced, but worth the cost as these colours are hard to find in trousers elsewhere.
The waist was perfect, hips were a little large but not bad. But when I sat down, all the loose fabric on the stomach/groin ballooned out. I have a short torso, so that might be it. Or they might be designed for ladies with more of a tummy. Sadly, going back. Darn it- have wanted chocolate jeans for ages!
I wanted to hate these because my bank balance advised it. I struggle with getting a good fit in trousers and I don't like skirts, so I generally buy tops, wraps and jackets from Kettlewell. These jeans are a revelation - ordered because I love the glorious colour, and though rather long for my 4'10" beanpole height, they fit well, are very comfy and practical and don't make me feel like a sausage about to burst its skin. I value comfort, hate tight, slim fitting jeans ( I have generously sized tummy and thighs!) so once on, these lovely jeans stayed on all day and felt great! Price a tad high, but for the quality and lovely colour totally worth it. Wishing for more Winter colours: Merlot or Rumba red, indigo, deep pine. Thinking of trying the Misty Pine once my bank balance allows. Very happy!
Delighted to find jeans that give me a waist and are the right length! I am short waisted and petite at 5'3 (proportionally with long legs). I chose a colour that's coded for summer but works very well for my season, spring. Nice quality and comfortable.
How I wanted these trousers to work! Desperate for a pair of grey jeans, I tried these at my visit to the colour studio at the end of September. I had previous tried the summer cropped version earlier in the year but didn’t buy them as the legs were a bit too tight round my post-knee op knees. The fit (my normal size small) of the full length version on the legs, waist & hips was fantastic & I loved the grey colour, would have been such a fantastic neutral, but sadly there was just a bit too much fabric in the crotch area which I know would really keep on bothering me. Reluctantly returned….. For info. I’m a size 10 (KW small), 5’7”, slim hourglass & don’t like anything skin tight!
I love the colour and the fabric of these jeans and they were a good fit on the waist and hip. However, there is too much fabric at the top of the thighs so I have had to return. I also ordered the Chocolate Truffle which were also returned because as well as the fit problem I found the colour far too red.
